How was it for you?

Dear PP,

I fear that it has all been a waste of time somehow and nothing will come of it.

I've given it my best shot, tried to say meaningful things and be to honest and interesting, but alas, I fear that we have no future together.

When we first got together I was number 5 on your list, but within the space of a few weeks I'm now number 10'772, this makes me feel quite insignificant.

To make matters worse, I tried to open up a dialogue with you this morning for a last ditch attempt and you refused to let me in and pretended not to know me. You are a cad and a bounder. You entice people in with your pretty facade, demand considerable time and effort from them, but offer little in return. You know you were my first - you took my innocence and popped my portal, but it seems to mean nothing to you.

Anyway, all my mates think you have a stupid name and most of them say that you have changed since last year.

I will leave you to ponder on all that I have said in the past and hope that you will realise in time, that I'm not such a bad old stick after all.

My DEAR Maid,

What can I do but offer my sympathies, and to reassure you that, across all fronts PP is an utterly FECKLESS and DISLOYAL Bounder, thin of charm and of patience and that, from 2pm this afternoon, and indeed for the rest of the YEAR until 'clearing', and (I use that term in its LOOSEST sense possible)nothing whatsoever can be done to impress on any front. Our pleas will fall on deaf ears since he knows now that we are fully enslaved to him for at least the next 2 months, unable to resist his charms, visiting him daily to see if he has anything of worth or note to say to us.
* sigh* - do you want a sip of my pudding wine and a large chunk of some of my chocolate?
( I am drinking the wine out of the bottle , but I promise I dont have Swine Flu )

You are drinking wine from a bottle, at lunchtime!!!! I'm on my way round.

Am I allowed to stuff the big chunk of choc into my mouth all at once? My motto, if you going to go on a chocolate bender, make it a gud un:-)

I've got pringles and un-thawed cheesecake to add to the collection!!! I can feel a Bridget Jones moment coming on:-)

My Dear Maid,

You may rest assured that you can stuff as much chocolate in to your mouth as you like and wash it down with the pudding wine - there is to be absolutely NO guilt here!!

Pringles and un thawed cheese cake sounds definately good for seconds - what about some ice cream for thirds?? ( none of this Skinny Cow nonsense, mind you - its Ben and Jerry's, or bust!!)

If we are doing a Bridge, I hope you've got snuffly pink fluffy slippers to go with the spotty PJ's....!! ( I've got a red spotty bathrobe, does that count a bit??)

Yes I have the slippers, the unflattering bathrobe and p.j's that are half mast - sorted:-)

Well done BM.

Its all about perseverance this game.

And not taking rejections to heart as we have all been there!

Oh yes LG, I shall not take it personally, it's a numbers game with an element of luck and even though I spent a good amount of time on the apps., they weren't up to much if I'm honest.

how surprised were we when the poor stem-driven system packed up at about 11am this morning? quite a few anxious faces at bpp. i was glad not to be one of them because even tho i am deadline man, i knew the damn thing would pack up at the critical point and had finished them the night before. i was concentrating on the dozen non-olpas apps!
oh joy. glad it's all over and i can concentrate on advocacy 2 and 3 this week and next.

SW - couldn't believe how the numbers shot up on the last day, my clearing app. was number twenty thousand and something.

Good luck with the advocacy, I'm sure you'll be fine. I have the conference exam tomorrow and am now in a panic because I don't know if my plan is up to scratch. Oh well, last minute jitters and all that...

You have done clearing already?

How can you target it to the most available sets as no one is in clearing yet? Or have i missed doing that now?

Barmaid said...

LG, I know that clearing isn't until September, but I assumed (no doubt wrongly) that we had to do our clearing application at the same time as the other applications.

The clearing application requires you to tick the boxes for the areas of law you would like to do and to then submit an application in the usual way.

I just stuck to the same specific areas that are included in my 'normal' applications and submitted a slightly more generic application.

BB, If I can have an invite to the party, I will wear my pink fluffy slippers and stripey flannel nightie.

i also have some chocolate hobnobs left over from Mel's chambers do.

Don't let Barboy come because he only has his spiderman pyjamas, and if you thought yours were half mast, you aint seen nothing!

(Wot's an Anne? Am I being dim as always?)

10'772. Blimming heck. That's as many barristers as there ARE now. MORE in fact. I fear I would need something stronger.

Minx and BM- you know if you melt down milk chocolate, maybe add a splash of milk or light cream to make it go down easier, you can take the stuff in faster than in bars because you don't have to chew? Or heck, Minx use your nursing skills and just hook us all up to a Green & Black's IV drip.

Mel, have already gotten the warm choc recipe, I like to melt it in saucepan with a little milk or cream and stir in some cornflakes, comfort food at its best.
